From one dojo to a community.
Canadian Black Belt Academy opened its doors in 2011 with a simple belief: martial arts is one of the most powerful tools for building character, confidence and community — at any age.
Today that belief lives across three studios in Bolton, Mississauga and Tottenham, led by certified black-belt instructors who treat every student like family.
The creeds we train by
Recited, and lived, by everyone in our community: students, instructors, parents and ownership alike.
I intend to develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth or physical health.
I intend to develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others.
I intend to use the skills I learn in class constructively and defensively, to help myself and my fellow man, and never be abusive or offensive.
I will teach this class as if it's the most important class I will ever teach.
I am patient and enthusiastic.
I lead by example.
I support my child's journey in martial arts by encouraging their commitment, focus, and perseverance.
I foster an environment of respect, helping my child understand the importance of discipline and growth, both in and out of class.
I trust the instructors to guide my child with patience and care, and I will be a positive role model by reinforcing these values at home.
I understand that progress is earned through effort and that setbacks are part of learning. I will celebrate my child's victories and encourage them through challenges.
I am committed to leading this academy with integrity and purpose, always prioritizing the values of respect, discipline, and personal growth.
I will create an environment where students, parents, and instructors feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
I strive for continuous improvement, ensuring that our academy upholds the highest standards in teaching, safety, and community building.
I understand that success is measured not only by the number of students but by the positive impact we have on each individual's life.
Four values on every mat
Respect
Everyone bows in, listens up, and lifts each other higher — students and staff alike.
Discipline
Consistent effort and honest feedback turn goals into belts, and belts into habits.
Confidence
We celebrate the small wins that teach students they are capable of hard things.
Community
Families train, cheer and grow together. Nobody trains alone here.
Three decades on the mats — and a lifetime of leadership.
6th Degree Black Belt in Karate · 3rd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
With over three decades of martial arts experience, Mr. Jason has dedicated his life to empowering students at the Canadian Black Belt Academy. He is a 6th-degree black belt in Karate and a 3rd-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, proudly earning his Jiu-Jitsu ranks under the legendary Master Royler Gracie of Gracie Humaitá. Mr. Jason combines decades of wisdom, skill, and passion to inspire students of all ages to excel on and off the mats.
Mr. Jason began his martial arts journey at just 7 years old, starting with Karate, where he developed a deep appreciation for discipline, respect, and personal growth. His passion expanded when he began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at age 15 in 1998 — the beginning of a lifelong commitment to mastering and teaching the art. He began teaching at 14, was running martial arts schools by 21, and in 2013 opened his first academy, the Canadian Black Belt Academy, which has since grown to three locations.
Along the way he has built a rock-solid team of award-winning instructors whose dedication and expertise have been instrumental in the academy's success. Together they serve thousands of students across all locations, holding a consistent standard of excellence in martial arts education.
Mr. Jason has routinely worked with the Canadian Armed Forces and local law enforcement to develop and improve their combative skills and firearms retention techniques, showcasing his expertise in practical self-defense and real-world application. He is also a frequent guest speaker at business summits, sharing his expertise on leadership, teaching methodologies, and business strategies for martial arts school owners.
The Canadian Black Belt Academy / Gracie Humaitá Academy has been the proud recipient of the Readers' Choice Award every year from 2013 to 2024, as well as the Caledon Chamber of Commerce's 2020 Business Impact Award and Business Excellence Award for its positive impact within the community — a testament to the academy's reputation and Mr. Jason's dedication to his students. His contributions have been featured in City Life Magazine.
A firm believer in giving back, Mr. Jason actively supports causes such as the annual Ride for SickKids. Whether guiding children through their first Karate katas or challenging advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students, he fosters a learning environment built on confidence, resilience, and practical self-defense.
With a direct yet encouraging teaching style, Mr. Jason ensures every student — beginner or advanced — receives the tools they need to succeed in martial arts and in life. Step onto the mats with Mr. Jason and begin a journey of self-improvement, determination, and empowerment.
